Why New England?

Even as a child who had never traveled to New England, I knew this part of the U.S. would be a part of my story one day. As a lover of history, I dreamed of visiting this area of the country that is rich in cobblestone streets, historic landmarks, and stories of the past. Growing up watching shows like Newhart, Cheers, Wings, and Murder, She Wrote with my mom and then Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, Dawson's Creek, and The Gilmore Girls as a teenager and young adult also influenced me, even though these shows weren't really filmed in New England. I dreamed of the lifestyle that these shows portrayed.

Fast forward to several years ago. I had dreamed of going to Boston for a long time and my mom had dreamed of going to Maine. So for her Birthday and Christmas gift, I surprised my mom with a trip to Boston and Maine for the following June. I researched and planned for several months to make this trip perfect. We worried we might have to cancel the trip when my mom ended up having surgery in February, but she used the trip as motivation for her recovery. That trip changed everything for me and that story will be its own blog post later.

Now, as I prepare to move to New England, that childhood dream is finally becoming a reality. Each step of this journey feels like a page turning in a book I've longed to read. From finding the perfect town to call home, to exploring the local cuisine and culture, I am eager to immerse myself in the New England experience.
